The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) wishes to inform all registered practitioners that the annual practising licence fee has been revised, effective 8th January, 2025, in accordance with resolutions passed by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at various meetings since 2022, including the NMA’s 64th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May 2024, Calabar.

The revised annual practising licence fees are as follows:
• N40,000 for practitioners with experience of 10 years and above.
• N20,000 for practitioners of less than 10 years of experience.

This adjustment is in line with Section 14 of the MDCN Act. Practitioners are reminded of the following provisions of the Act:
1. Section 14(3): The Council may, with the Minister’s approval, vary the practising fees as prescribed under subsection (1).
2. Section 14(5): Any medical practitioner or dental surgeon who practises without paying the prescribed practising fee shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to:
First offence: A fine of twice the prescribed practising fee.
Second or subsequent offence: A fine of not less than ten times the prescribed fee.

Employers of such practitioners are equally liable unless they prove that the non-payment was without their knowledge, consent, or connivance.

We urge all practitioners to comply with the updated fee structure. For further inquiries,
